“Being people who don’t overly love having our photo taken, we found it hard to decide on a photographer. So I insisted on driving down to meet Alice, so we could make sure we felt comfortable around her before making any decisions. Within minutes we knew we had to have her photograph our wedding!! She is so easy going, but also amazing at her job. The whole process from booking through to receiving our beautiful photos was handled so professionally but with a personal touch as well. On the day Alice and Bec were both there to capture every moment and we are so pleased with the results! Thank you thank you thank you!!”

Tell us a little about your day…
We’re probably biased but for us it was dead set the best day ever! We had the most amazing time and really didn’t want it to end! I don’t think I have ever smiled so much in my life but I literally couldn’t help it. Our day was happy and fun and everything we had hoped for. I’d do it again in a heartbeat 🙂
What was your fav moment or part of the day?
The ceremony was so exciting and I loved doing our vows, that was really sweet. Also the party after – we played a giant game of flip cup which worked a treat in getting everyone up and ready to party. The band was awesome as well which meant everyone got into the dancing! I just wish it went for like 5 more hours!!
Do you have any words of wisdom or tips for future couples?
It’s true what everyone says – it goes SO fast, so really take everything in. Every moment! And make sure you take moments with just the two of you – they were really special.

Tell us a little about your day…
Our day was spent with our parents and siblings, with a guest list of 14 in total. We wouldn’t change a thing! Getting to share special memories and moments with each person during the whole day was a highlight.
What was your fave part or moment from your day?
How do you pick one?! The most precious was hearing each other’s personalised vows to one another and spending some time just the two us just before the reception dinner talking about the day so far.
Do you have any words of wisdom or tips for future couples?
Try not to stress about the little things as everything will fall into place on the day and will be perfect no matter what!
The Figtree team have been shooting weddings in the Byron Bay region for 8 years now, and we feel blessed to have captured so many beautiful wedding stories across this perfect little pocket of Northern NSW.
From intimate coastal venues to secluded hinterland properties, it’s no secret we love photographing weddings around Byron Bay here at Figtree.

What makes Byron Bay such an ideal wedding location?
“Without a doubt, Byron Bay is home to some of Australia’s most incredible wedding venues. Offering the very best of a rural hinterland or pristine beach setting, finding a dream property to host a destination wedding in Byron Bay has seriously never been easier. The area lends itself to some of the most beautiful and unique venues in the country, offering a huge selection of different venue styles and options to suit any wedding budget.
What’s more is that our unique environment is blessed with warm weather year-round. No need to cross winter off the list, it’s one of the best times to tie the knot, and cheaper too!
Obviously, it’s not just the awe-inspiring venues which attract couples to the region. Byron boasts a buzzing energy like any popular overseas holiday destination. The streets are saturated with talented live musicians, restaurants are spilling out onto the footpaths, and the town is overflowing with art and weekly food markets. The vibe is electric!
Not to mention the amazing beaches, endless activities and world-class day spas you can spend hours of your day enjoying. As one of the most desirable holiday destinations in the country, most wedding guests will appreciate the excuse to take a holiday (without the cost of an overseas trip!).”
What can couples expect from this years Byron Bay Wedding Fair?
“Couples can expect to meet talented wedding vendors and suppliers, from florists to photographers, bridal wear, decor, musicians and so much more. And couples who are on the hunt for their dream wedding venue will have the opportunity to view the region’s most sought-after properties.
There will be beautifully styled wedding spaces, live music to set the scene, delicious food, workshops, chill-out spaces and more.
It’s a wedding fair like no other! The relaxed format of our wedding fairs are renowned for providing the space and inspiration couples need to find not only their wedding venue but the suppliers with the skills and creativity to bring their dreams to life.”
Do you have any tips to help couples make the most out of the Byron Bay Wedding Fair?
“Firstly, to register their attendance on the Byron Bay Wedding Fair website. Couples will be sent a guide on the best way to make the most out of the day, including which vendors will be showcasing where as well as what venues will be open for viewings.
And we highly recommend starting the day early, there’s lots to see!”
You can find our Figtree team members Ally and Leigh at Forget Me Not Weddings – a stunning 100-acre farm nestled in Coopers Shoot, just a few minutes from the picturesque town of Bangalow. Featuring lush natural surroundings, a tranquil lily pond and country-style homestead, we can’t wait to spend some time at this secluded hinterland venue – so be sure to say hello, we’d love to chat!
Make sure you also check out the following Figtree venue faves on the day:
Fig Tree Restaurant: Located in Ewingsdale, this sweet farmhouse-style restaurant offers both ocean and hinterland views with indoor and outdoor reception locations. The venue also features one of the most iconic ceremony spots in Byron Bay with their much-loved ancient fig tree. Definitely one of our faves!
byronviewfarm: Featuring a classic white cottage, wrap-around verandah and stunning natural backdrop, we definitely have a soft spot for byronviewfarm, situated hilltop at McLeods Shoot. Don’t miss the panoramic views and picture perfect outlook from this intimate hinterland location.
The EarthHouse: One of the most unique venues in the Byron Bay region, we love the rustic charm of Earth House in Clunes. Featuring a Mediterranean-style indoor reception space (complete with exposed timber beams and polished concrete floors!), this secluded venue is the perfect blank canvas for creative couples.
You can also view the following Byron Bay venues between 10am – 4pm on Saturday, with some venues reopening on Sunday 1st July between 10am – 2pm:
