Tell us a little about your day…

Like they always say something will go wrong, & it did….but we had such a wonderful team of vendors that it was still the single most amazing day of our lives. It was incredibly windy at our venue which none of us in the bridal party knew about because not far from the venue where we were getting ready it was a normal day. It wasn’t until the boys arrived that they became aware of it & Ben gave the ok to move the ceremony location to a more protected area on the property. Of course everyone was a little nervous that I wouldn’t be happy with it when I arrived. We had been trying to plan for possible rain on the day; extreme winds wasn’t something we gave any thought to. I was told of the change just as we were leaving for the venue so I wasn’t walking into it completely shocked. The journey to the venue was longer than expected due an accident that had occurred right at the entrance so tension was a high for everyone by the time the girls arrived. I lost my veil to the winds just as I was to walk down the aisle; I knew then moving the ceremony was undoubtedly the right choice. Although we were all outside in the winds for a few hours we hope it didn’t dampen the day for our guests. We were all very grateful when the time came to enter the reception. We were all spoilt with delicious food & drinks from Silos Restaurant, Ben even decided his wedding was a great night to take up drinking wine. We danced & drank (way too much of course). Ben & I honestly could have stayed all night. Getting to spend a night partying with all your favorite people is almost a once in a lifetime thing, & those memories, some a little blurrier than others, will be cherished forever.

What was your fave part or moment from your day?

I seriously thought I would be one of those people that thinks lets just get the ceremony over & onto the party, but we truly loved the ceremony. We only met with one celebrant, Cath from Coastal Ceremonies but she was the perfect choice for us. We’re so pleased we took the time to write our own vows; they were so special & we still talk about them now, they aren’t just forgotten after they’re said. For me (Lauren) I also loved entering the reception & seeing it set up in all its beauty. I spent so much time….SO MUCH TIME …sourcing, planning & thinking about things that no one would ever notice like table widths, then making sure tablecloths would sit to the desired length and dimmer switches to ensure the perfect amount of light. So when I first saw it with all our wonderful family & friends there it was a bit of a teary moment for me. Although I worked out the design & sourcing of the items it was all brought to life thanks to the fantastic people at Windwood Events, Flowers on the Mill & SP Events. Without them & the restaurant staff it wouldn’t have been anywhere near as beautiful as it was.

Do you have any words of wisdom or tips for future couples?

Write your own vows & practice saying them out loud. You would be surprised how emotional you can get when you actually say it out loud instead in your head. If they don’t already offer this as part of their package, ask your celebrant to look over both of your vows to ensure they’re similar in length & fit together in their style. Our celebrant included this & it certainly put us at ease knowing that Cath would let us know if one person was going to include all humorous vows while the other was being super romantic.

We would love to hear about your experience with Figtree Wedding Photography

I first discovered Figtree on instagram & straight away thought “I must have them”. I loved their light & style in the pictures and even though I wasn’t actively searching for a photographer I knew they were what I wanted. Being that there is a relatively substantial amount of distance between us sense started to kick in when I thought about the possible cost of hiring them. I knew I had to look for other options. I decided I would keep an eye out on insta for similar styles with a local photographer. Every time I thought I found something similar I would be so excited thinking it could be another option until read the caption & saw Figtree were the photographers. This happened on at least 4 occasions when I finally gave in to the travel costs & said “we’re having them”. Upon contacting them I found they had 1 date available in the 2 month period I was looking at, so I found a venue with the same availability & locked them both in. I certainly did not regret it at any point from there on. Our photographers Alice & Alice were both amazing & we’re so thankful they travelled down to Berry to give us the most beautiful wedding pictures that we will treasure forever. It’s not just the pictures though, everyone we dealt with throughout the whole process were super friendly & helpful, we didn’t have any issues at any step of the way.

Tell us a little about your day…

Our wedding day was just perfect. It was very intimate, so we got to spend time with all of our guests and really enjoy the day. We have always felt a special connection to the Byron Bay Hinterland and Byron View Farm provided the most beautiful setting for us to celebrate with our family and friends. There is such a peaceful and positive atmosphere up there, not to mention the stunning views! We were lucky enough to have gorgeous weather and all of our vendors did such a wonderful job, creating a happy and relaxed vibe on the day! We enjoyed a cosy (and delicious!) dinner on the cottage veranda with our guests and it couldn’t have been a better end to our special day.

What was your fave part or moment from your day?

To be honest, the whole day was like a dream but if I had to choose one part, it would be walking down the aisle towards Pete and saying our vows. It was such a heartfelt ceremony and is a memory we will always treasure.

Do you have any words of wisdom or tips for future couples?

I would say to go with a venue that you really connect with and has a wet weather option. Even though we were blessed with beautiful weather, it took a lot of stress away knowing that even if it rained, everything would still run perfectly. I would also recommend having an on the day coordinator. I can not thank our coordinator, Carmen, enough for making sure that everything ran smoothly and for just being such a lovely person to work with!

We would love to hear about your experience with Figtree Wedding Photography

Figtree Wedding Photography were absolutely wonderful! Dan was our photographer on the day and he was so easy to work with, making everyone feel relaxed. He really went above and beyond to get all the shots that we wanted and was very patient with our ‘fur babies’ who weren’t that keen on sitting still for photos. We also received our ‘sneak peek’ photos really quickly, so it was great to be able to share a few with our family and friends soon after the wedding.

“Alice made our day!! She was amazing from start to finish, she wasn’t just a photographer, she was the whole package! She calmed our nerves and made us feel so relaxed. We never felt like our photos were staged or unnatural and we are so glad she decided last minute to take us away from the wedding for the extra half an hour to get our AMAZING photos on the train tracks as these are our absolute favourite photos by far! Her vision was exactly what we were after and we could not be happier with every single photo that we have received back. We would not hesitate to recommend the Figtree Pictures team to anyone and everyone who is looking for an amazing Wedding photographer with vision and relaxed vibes.” – Bec + Ben

Tell us a little about your day…
One word.. PERFECT! Everything came together better then we had ever imagined! All the Vendors we picked were suited perfectly for us with their relaxed, fun vibes which is exactly what we wanted for our special day. Tradition went out the window and we just did what we felt was right for us with the main aim of us being able to celebrate our love with all of our closest family and friends around us.

What was your fave part or moment from your day?
The ceremony by far for us. It was so relaxed and fun which is exactly the vibe we were going for, especially with how nervous we both were. We both hate being center of attention and our Celebrant, Ben Carlyle, got all of our guests involved which made the ceremony feel so unique to us and something neither us nor our guests have ever experienced before, taking the nerves away instantly. We had so many compliments afterwards and believe that it will be a ceremony to remember for many years to come.

Do you have any words of wisdom or tips for future couples?
Relax and don’t sweat the small stuff. Just do you!

Carlie + Matt // Osteria Casuarina Wedding Photography, Tweed Coast Wedding Photographer

“Being people who don’t overly love having our photo taken, we found it hard to decide on a photographer. So I insisted on driving down to meet Alice, so we could make sure we felt comfortable around her before making any decisions. Within minutes we knew we had to have her photograph our wedding!! She is so easy going, but also amazing at her job. The whole process from booking through to receiving our beautiful photos was handled so professionally but with a personal touch as well. On the day Alice and Bec were both there to capture every moment and we are so pleased with the results! Thank you thank you thank you!!”

Tell us a little about your day…

We’re probably biased but for us it was dead set the best day ever! We had the most amazing time and really didn’t want it to end! I don’t think I have ever smiled so much in my life but I literally couldn’t help it. Our day was happy and fun and everything we had hoped for. I’d do it again in a heartbeat 🙂

What was your fav moment or part of the day?

The ceremony was so exciting and I loved doing our vows, that was really sweet. Also the party after – we played a giant game of flip cup which worked a treat in getting everyone up and ready to party. The band was awesome as well which meant everyone got into the dancing! I just wish it went for like 5 more hours!!

Do you have any words of wisdom or tips for future couples?

It’s true what everyone says – it goes SO fast, so really take everything in. Every moment! And make sure you take moments with just the two of you – they were really special.
